Quotes

  • Gil Favor : Welcome back, Mr Yates. Hope you enjoyed your trip.

    Rowdy Yates : Sorry.

Gil Favor : Just had to go against orders, didn't you. Just had to do it your way. Oh, where's Hey Soos? That was the whole point of the trip, won't it?

Rowdy Yates : They wouldn't release him.

Pete Nolan : You really fixed things up, Rowdy. They got everything they want: the Lieutenant, the money and Hey Soos.

Rowdy Yates : McKeever gave me his word.

Gil Favor : And you believed him.

Jim Quince : We gotta go in now, Mr Favor, and release Hey Soos.

Rowdy Yates : No, Pete's right. It wouldn't do any good. They got everything they want, they're not about to be there.

Gil Favor : Oh, they'll be there.

Rowdy Yates : What makes you think that?

Gil Favor : I guess that Lieutenant friend of yours checked the box too carefully and check that the money was there or not.

Rowdy Yates : No, he trusted me.

Gil Favor : He shouldn't have trusted me.

  • Jim Quince : You mean we have to ride herd on 50,000 dollars?

Gil Favor : No, I mean you are going to be riding on 3,000 head of beef. That's all you going to have to worry about.

  • Jim Quince : I swear I never thought it'd get any hotter.

Pete Nolan : You ain't started to boil yet, it's still the cool of the morning.

Jim Quince : I tell you, Pete, I could've had me a gentleman's job tending bar down home. I don't know why I signed up on this drive for again anyway.

Pete Nolan : Ah, that's easy. Light work, short hours, good pay.

Gil Favor : Everything's going to turn to dust if we don't get to water soon. Where's the next waterhole?

Pete Nolan : Salt Water Springs. It'll be a couple of days.

Gil Favor : Two days? Where're you leading us? By way of the Sahara?

Pete Nolan : Look, I ain't no Moses, I can't touch one of these rocks and make it spurt water out of it.

Gil Favor : Even if you could, you might be of some use.

Pete Nolan : Who put the burr under his saddle? Sometimes I wonder why I joined up with this blasted drive.

Jim Quince : Ah, that's easy. Light work, short hours, and good pay.
