The brat and the murderer
unbrokenmetal9 December 2014
'Sydney at 10' begins with a flashback to Sydney's childhood. She was an excellent student, obviously, who worked out at the age of ten that relics need to be discovered for the people for whom they hold a meaning – they should not end up as a trophy in a millionaire's collection. Her teacher is delighted – but he is murdered by a man who steals a precious relic. 20 years later, Sydney receives a fax showing that very item. As much as she likes to retrieve the relic, her main aim is to find the murderer, better late than never. Conveniently, he still looks exactly like he did 20 years ago, while Sydney turned from a nosy brat into Tia Carrere. The traces lead her to a brotherhood with nice dark cloaks who meet in a dark dungeon...

This is a rather weird episode. It doesn't fit in well with the other episodes at the beginning of the season, showing a darker side of our heroine. However, it begins a story arch that will be loosely continued in other episodes.
