A fight scene showcases John Saxon's martial artistry. Both he and Garner had worked with Bruce Lee (Garner's film is the underrated, little-seen, Marlowe (1969)).
The painting of the ship's rigging in Tom Hanson's office is also used in Dr. Bracket's office from the show Emergency! (1972).
When Beth and Jim arrive at her parking spot, next to it's one marked 'Rosenberg', a reference to series' executive producer/writer, Meta Rosenberg.
Jim and Beth's relationship is played with. Here, Jim refuses to take Beth's case, with a quick cut to showing Jim on the case. The same thing was done previously in The Dark and Bloody Ground (1974).
