In this episode Tod warns Linc about a character Linc is interested in named Sidney Brookes, played by the actress Janice Rule. Tod says, "Look I know all about girls like Sidney. I grew up with them. I almost married one in New England. She had so much money she used Plymouth Rock for a paperweight!" That's a reference to an episode in season two, "Once to Every Man," when Tod got engaged to a woman named Prudie Adams, played by... Janice Rule. Yes, the woman Tod almost married was *exactly* like Sidney Brookes.
Even in 2022 a speed of 200 mph in the racing boats would place them in the top five fastest boats racing.
Before the start of the race, Sidney Brooks is introduced to Louis Berlanti, president of the Tierra Verde Community Association, Inc. by Guy Lombardo. Mr. Berlanti speaks but they keep his voice very low so he can barely be heard and so he does not receive a credit in the show. This was filmed around April 1963 and in August 1963, Louis Berlanti and his son Fred died when their airplane exploded over Lake Okeechobee.
