Pat is on the Indian reservation when he witnesses Rock Johnny being shot and killed by someone wearing an Indian secret society mask, a false face. The murder causes a lot of anti-Indian feeling in Mineral City and acting sheriff Roy Rogers has to keep a war from breaking out. Roy is blood brothers with Chief Gray Hawk, who calls him by his Indian name, Rising Sun. Roy, Dale, and Pat are suspicious about who is actually wearing these Indian masks. A visiting archeologist, Professor Willing, offers to help, but he seems to be a lot more of a hindrance. What's really going on here? Rising Sun Roy and his pals are going to have a tough time getting to the bottom of this.
