Lamont pops the question to Janet
"The Engagement Man Always Rings Twice" was Marlene Clark's second appearance as Janet Lawson, the divorcée with a son, to whom Fred is certain that Lamont will propose. Aunt Esther and Uncle Woody (Raymond Allen, fourth of nine) are invited to dinner, catered because Fred forgot to cook. When Janet says yes Fred is ecstatic, until learning that Lamont intends to move out rather than continue living with his father. Buying a ring proves more difficult with the familiar face of Frank Nelson (first of six) as the salesman with his hilarious asides. Derek Triplett makes his lone appearance as Janet's son Roger, played by Edward Crawford in three future episodes.
