According to Kattan, Hanks laughed so hard that he fell off his chair, and it was due to his enthusiasm for the character that the sketch made it's debut on SNL.
A sketch in which Mary Katherine Gallagher (Molly Shannon) is part of a school production of Macbeth with Tom Hanks as her teacher was cut after dress rehearsal, but was included as an extra on the DVD version of Saturday Night Live: The Best of Tom Hanks (2004).
When Chris Kattan performed his impersonation of Kerri Strug for writer Robert Smigel, it was Smigel's idea for Kattan to play Strug's fictitious twin brother 'Kippy'.
