One of the main characters is the King of Switzerland. The Swiss nation, founded in 1291, has never had a monarchical ruler.
In her opening monologue, Shirley Temple credits Jules Verne with describing space travel and submarines, nearly a century before either was possible in the real world. The first claim is true, as Verne's From the Earth to the Moon appeared in 1865, 96 years before Yuri Gagarin's 1961 space flight. But the second claim is patently false. Submarine warfare originated in the American Revolution, about 50 years before Verne was born. Multiple nations began building submarine fleets in the 1860s, prompting Verne to write his Captain Nemo stories beginning in 1869. His accomplishment with submarines was imagining subs that were large and efficient enough to house people for an extended length of time.
