The Vulture wears the updated version of his costume that debut in "The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #387 in March 1994, two years before this episode aired. The talons on his costume drain the youth from his victims and are based on a technology deciphered from the mystical Tablet of Time. In the original comic story from "The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #386, he just uses transfer gauntlets to drain youth from his victims.
This version of Adrian Toomes is motivated to become the Vulture to reverse aging. To accomplish this he used funds from his company, Toomes Aerodynamic, to research to reverse aging and develop technology to defy gravity much to the dismay of Norman Osborn who wants to push out Toomes and acquire the company. This is loosely adapted from The Vulture's origin in The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #2, where Toomes business partner, Gregory Bestman, tricked Toomes out of his share of the company.
This episode is based on "The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #386-387, where the Vulture uses transfer gauntlets to start draining youth and updates his costume. It's also loosely based on "The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #2, the first appearance of The Vulture.
