This version of Michael Morbius was a student at Empire State University that had a normal appearance and a love for Felicia Hardy before becoming a living vampire and only became one after stealing Peter Parker's blood sample and getting bit by a vampire bat. In the comics, his origin was revealed in a flashback in "The Amazing Spider-Man" (Vol.1) #102 where he had a deformed appearance due to a rare blood disease and performed an experiment with vampire bats and electroshock therapy because he was going to die from it. The experiment stops him from dying, but made him a living vampire.
In this series, Morbius was given a modern wardrobe update. This version of Morbius wore a black coat over a green shirt and jeans instead of blue and red spandex. Also in his living vampire form his hair turns light blue instead of remaining its natural black color like the comics.
This episode is based on the Six-Arm Saga" from "The Amazing Spider-Man" (Vol. 1) #100-102, which was the first appearance of Morbius, the Living Vampire.
