- SG-1 returns from lifeless desert planet P9X391 with an Ancient device to study. While Carter can't understand the technology, Jonas works on the hieroglyphs, until he alone sees giant bugs crawling from it, but others soon do, all over the base, and also Jack, who was on a fishing holiday. The bugs seemed like hallucinations, as they don't affect anything, presumably living in another dimension and only made visible with a delay after 'contaminating' contact with anyone who touched the device. The base is closed down to avoid mass hysteria among civilians, but Jack already 'infected' mentally weak veteran gas station attendant Vernon Sharp, who flees, so the panic must be contained by pretending it's a hallucinogenic chemical leak, while Jonas and carter seek a way to reverse the effect.—KGF Vissers
