Waiting...

Well developed episode that was emotionally effective. Great cast chemistry and some clever science moments, very Apollo 13. The cgi and effects worked well.

Taking a Goa'uld leave

Warning: Spoilers
I am really, really enthusiastic about this. It's set in space, it has Jacob in it, and everybody gets their fair share of screen time. The plot line is very simple and straightforward, but because of that every detail feels right.

Most of all, though, this episode is a landmark moment in the general storyline, as humanity really sets out to conquer the stars on its own (and, as for now, ends up lost in the middle of nowhere with a serious communication problem). After all these years, SG1's discoveries are finally starting to pay off. The delays between our first encounter with Gliders and the 301 experiment feel life-like --just like the fact that this crash-test will be a spectacular fiasco. As Jacob sums up, mastering technology takes a bit more than changing the sticker on the cockpit. Besides, isn't it absolutely reasonable that Apophis should have taken measures to protect his property from petty theft?

There are several funny moments (I LOVE Daniel's silly act with the loudspeaker!), but on the whole the episode is rather tense and suspenseful as everybody racks their brains to rescue Jack and Teal'c from their maverick ship. Incidentally, even as SGC gets their own two-person spacecraft, they're also learning how to pilot much bigger ships. And I cannot help but smile when I hear Jacob complaining about "beaming people up", knowing that in a few years from now it will be everybody's favourite mode of transportation.

Returning Home
claudio_carvalho4 July 2016
While testing an experimental air fighter built from the two Death Gliders, Jack and Teal'c lose control and can not eject from the airplane that heads to the space. Out of the blue, the propulsion shuts down and they hear Apophis telling that the parts have a device to force the spacecraft to return home. Meanwhile Sam and Daniel try to find a means to rescue their friends. However they are short of time and the oxygen in the air fighter is exhausting. Will Jack and Teal'c be rescued in time?

"Tangent" is an episode with a different story. Instead of traveling to another planet, the SG-1 is testing an air fighter built from Goa'uld technology. However a problem happens and they need to find a way to rescue Jack and Teal'c. In the end, the plot is well-resolved. My vote is seven.

Not a Review

Warning: Spoilers
A trivia point is incorrect. Someone stated that since Digger 1 was headed for the Oort Cloud and had just passed Jupiter the perspective of the Sun could not be correct. In fact the Oort Cloud is spherical and is literally in any dirction one can move. The relation of the ship to the Oort Cloud has nothing to do with how the Sun would look.

I like the technical details
klusik24 April 2024
I love how they portrayed these small details (for a fantasy-scifi as SG-1 is).

For example -- time lag, the whole radio communication. It's very similar to communication with a real ATC for example (but still -- fantasy/scifi :-D)

Other thing, it's clever, it's not trying to do something "big" or anything spectacular, they are just there, proffesionals who know what to do, how to behave during a distress.

That is, at least by my opinion, the major issue of many current sci-fis with some kind of "army" there -- you have a Colonel with more like 20 years of expierences and they are bratty stupid clichés.

Here, it is not. This I love.
