Quarantine time :)

Quarantine time :)

While in covid pandemic days, this episode is making more sense.

It reminds me similar episode from x-files where there was some disases spreading in a small area.

But there, they dont get precautions like masks or special suits.

Anyways, they saved again a planet.

Moving from dark side to light side was good.

A histamine problem

Solid episode as the team accidentally brings a new team member back with them. Good costuming and effects. Though the outfits on the untouched were down right distracting.

Richard Dean Anderson and Amanda Tapping are funny

Warning: Spoilers
One population is infected by some virus that makes them becoming some kind of cavemen, The Touched called. The Untouched doesn't know what is going on until SG-1 arrives on their planet. Searching for goa'uld threat and not find they decide not to help the planet and return through the stargate to earth. Not knowing that they carry the virus they slowly are turning into cavemen.

Carter got infected and is out for lust with Jack. It's the first time that we do see Carter in a sexy outfit and actually kissing Jack. But Jack takes the main lead in this êpisode once he also becomes a caveman. The only two not infected are David and Teal'c so they need to go back to the planet to have a blood sample to find a cure.

Here I did get a smile on my face because Carter as a lust object steps out of her role as did Jack looking like a madman in his cell. But it all worked out fine. Again easy to spot it's a low budget series.

Dangerous Infection

Colonel O'Neill, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c go to a planet where people previous to the Stone Age live in the dark side and Bronze Age people live in the sunny side. Soon they learn that the Touched is an aggressive people while the Untouched are peaceful. Out of the blue, the daughter of the Untouched king is in observation since she have just had contact with the Touched. Further, the Goa'ulds have passed by the planet many years ago. O'Neill decides to return to Earth and soon they discover that they are infected by a strange disease and contaminating the others in the base. However Teal'c, Daniel and Dr. Janet Fraiser are immune and General Hammond orders to seal the mountain and leave the base in quarantine. Teal'c and Daniel return to the planet to get blood sample from the Untouched so that Dr. Frasier may research a cure. But when they arrive, Daniel is abducted by the Touchable and Teal'c does not have support from the Untouchable. Will Dr. Frasier find the cure for the infection?

"The Broca Divide" is an excellent episode of "Stargate SG-1" with a great story of outbreak. The plot is consistent and has funny moments, like when Samantha attacks O'Neill in the locker-room. My vote is nine.

Richard Dean Anderson acting as an caveman, Brilliant!

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. Now I agree that it isn't one of the more amazing episodes but it has a certain drama and humour to it.

In the continuing effort to find the planet that Apophis brought Sha're they discover a planet with one hemisphere in complete darkness and the other in light. The dark side are inhabited by primitive cavemen and the other with an culture similar to ancient Greece. Apparantely the cavemen are contagious and soon the entire SGC start transforming into primitive brutes. Even Jack start screaming and climbing on furniture. Suddenly Teal'c and Daniel must find a cure for the new epidemic.

A truly exiting and funny episode with a strong performance from R.D. Anderson and C. Judge.

Don't go to the Dark side
owlaurence19 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Now THIS is when the series really starts to show what it's worth! This episode is SO much better than Emancipation, it almost feels like a different series, effortlessly combining the vast variety of themes that define Stargate SG-1: the omnipresent Goa'uld threat, the Ancient settings, the mission to bring back something BESIDES mortal viruses that only Teal'c is immune against. It also introduces so many elements that will become daily routine: Janet Fasier's competent presence, Hammond's harried calls to the President, the bimonthly lockdowns at SGC...

Besides, the plot is rock-solid. Everybody acts as they should, the dialogue is witty and well-rendered, every detail is consistent (even Daniel's allergies play a part!) and things progress at a pace. I particularly love the way that something apparently supernatural (the strange "curse" that turns Ancient Greeks -and modern men- back into cavemen) is gradually explained away in a logical manner. But what I like so much about Stargate is that it lets science coexist with all the alien and apparently magical stuff.

Very poor episode
er-guille7 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
One of the poorest episodes of the season. It's full of cliches, plot holes and absurd arguments. If they know they're dealing with a highly infectious organism, how come there is no protective/isolation gear anywhere?. People who have allergies and take antihistamines don't deplete their bodies of histamine. They just block the action of the molecule. And we never got an explanation of the existence of dark/light sides on the planet. It looks like this episode was written by Emmerich himself.

continuing quest for alien technology
sherry5427 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The quest for new technology lands SG-1 on a planet with a unique problem. It is literally divided between the light and the dark. It's citizens are classified as "Touched and Untouched." Not knowing the details of why some seem to be 'Touched' members of SG-1 itself becomes affected. Teal'c is protected by his symbiote, but for Jack and Sam they are overtaken by the desire to behave as uncivilized humans. The clue lies in why Daniel was not affected as Jack and Sam were? Thanks to Earth medicine a cure is found and they are able to restore everyone who has been affected by the virus. Some who have not seen family members in decades are reunited. Has Earth found a new ally? Will they be advanced enough to help them in their fight with the Goa'uld?
