You would certainly think this would be a good episode. It has all of the elements you would expect a Starsky and Hutch story to have. But that just may be the problem; everything goes just as expected.
This episode feels as if someone took a check list and put all the "right" stuff into the show. Beautiful woman in peril - check. Love interest to one of our heroes - check. Eccentric killer - check. Close calls with death - check.
The story is just sloppy, too. You could have simply hidden the beautiful woman somewhere until you found the killer, instead of letting her hang around her own home waiting to be murdered. Our professional killer was equally sloppy with his killing methods and with covering his trail. He's unreachable, but he leaves a forwarding address? You were right, Starsky, I would never believe it.
I can see where an episode like this would make PMG and DS bored with the whole thing. It's definitely missing some snappy dialog or anything to give them a challenge. They could do this one in their sleep, and they probably did.
