Clark Kent : [noticing Lois is in danger, he "spills" coffee on himself] Oops. Better go wash this out before it stains.
-
Lois Lane : I just hate this. I can't sleep, I can't eat. I feel so... helpless.
Clark Kent : Why don't you just relax?
Lois Lane : I can't relax. I feel like I should be out there doing something, not sitting here wondering what everybody else is up to. It feels... wrong.
Clark Kent : Why? Let other people take the risks for you for a change. The world can get by without Lois Lane for a couple of days.
Lois Lane : Yeah, just enough time for Julian to steal all my stories and my byline.
Clark Kent : Oh, by the way, Angela Chen called. She heard about your award on the news last night and wanted to congratulate you.
Lois Lane : [getting an idea] On the news, huh? You know, Clark, maybe you're right. Let everyone else take care of things.
Clark Kent : That's the spirit.
Lois Lane : [picking up her purse] In fact, I think I'll go relax in a nice, hot bath... right now. See ya.
-
Clark Kent : [answering the ringing phone on Lois' desk] Hello?
Lex Luthor : Kent. I was hoping to speak to Lois.
Clark Kent : She's not here.
Lex Luthor : Then take a note. I've traced the materials she was asking about. It was part of a lot that went missing from inventory right after her little snitch Lytener was fired.
[on his end, Clark has already sped off]
Lex Luthor : Did you get that, Kent? Hello? Hello?
-
Edward Lytener : I was expecting you to show up. After all, if Lois Lane is in danger, can Superman be far behind?
Superman : Let her out of there, Lytener.
Edward Lytener : [putting on and activating a power-suit vest] You're in no position to make demands, Superman.
Superman : Let her out, or I'll...
Edward Lytener : [easily beating him in hand-to-hand combat] This is my favorite invention; a project I began at LexLabs, actually. It's powered by the solar energy spectrum of a red sun. That's why the punches pack such a wallop, particularly for you, Superman.
-
Lois Lane : I'm really sorry to bother you like this.
Edward Lytener : It's no bother. I've been in this lab for 24 hours straight without looking up. I could use the break. And the company. The circuit patterns are a lot like what they're working on over at LexCorp R&D.
Clark Kent : How do you know that?
Lois Lane : Eddie used to work for Luthor. He was my informant on the Lex-Scam article.
Edward Lytener : By the way, Lois, congratulations.
Lois Lane : [uneasy] Yeah. Thanks.
Edward Lytener : [looking under a microscope] Hello. What's this?
Lois Lane : [taking a peek] "L.C."
Edward Lytener : It's from LexCorp, all right. Somebody there must really have it in for you, Lois.
-
Lois Lane : Arm still hurting?
Clark Kent : Eh, about the same as yesterday. I still think we should've taken it to the police first.
Lois Lane : [sarcastic] Oh, yeah. I'm sure Detective Bowman won't rest 'til he finds out where this came from.
[pressing an intercom]
Lois Lane : At least I know Edward Lytener will be helpful.
Edward Lytener : [via security feed] Yes, yes, what is it?
Clark Kent : [sarcastic, too] Oh, yes, very helpful, I'm sure.

Awards Presenter : ...in investigative journalism are Patrice Bandi for her article on illegal drug traffic...
[applause]
Awards Presenter : ...Mike Hart for his exposé on diet fraud...
[applause]
Awards Presenter : ...Julian Frey for his piece "No Profit Like Non-Profit"...
Lois Lane : Good luck, Julian.
Awards Presenter : ...and Lois Lane for "Lex-Scam: Nuclear Danger."
Julian Frey : You, too, my dear.
Awards Presenter : And the award goes to...
[nervously wringing her napkin, Lois notices the words "You win... You die!" written on it]
Awards Presenter : Lois Lane.
Clark Kent : Lois, go up.
[as she goes to accept her award, he hears something like a pipe hissing]
Clark Kent : Did you hear that?
Julian Frey : Yes, I can hardly believe it, either. As if her ego weren't big enough already.
-
Lois Lane : What do you think the chances are of Bowman actually solving this case?
Clark Kent : What's his problem?
Lois Lane : Oh, about two years ago, I wrote an exposé on police corruption. It cost him a promotion. He's had it in for me ever since.
Clark Kent : Careful!
Lois Lane : [going around a big rig] Don't worry, Kent. I'm always in control.
Clark Kent : If you want, I'd be happy to stay at your apartment tonight.
[she throws him a skeptical look]
Clark Kent : Somebody *did* try to kill you.
Lois Lane : And he failed. Look, Kent, I'm not worried. You shouldn't be, either.
-
Clark Kent : [after Lex offers his assistance] Trust him? Why would you do that? He's just trying to keep you from nosing around LexCorp.
Lois Lane : Probably. But I believed him when he said he wasn't behind it. The way this assassin keeps warning me, it's like he wants me to suffer first. That's weird, but it's not Lex.
Julian Frey : [coming off the elevator] Lois, my dear. Perry has just handed me some of your, uh, overdue assignments.
Lois Lane : What?
Julian Frey : He was worried about you falling behind.
[with a dry sarcasm]
Julian Frey : I certainly hope I can come up to your, uh... award-winning standards.
Lois Lane : [irked] I'm sure you will.
