First To Review the Beautiful Myra Francis on The Sweeney
TheFearmakers13 October 2020
THE SWEENEY episode COUNTRY BOY has our own city (London) boys joined by a well-dressed/well-educated technical expert, quickly screwing up by sitting in the front seat where only John Thaw's Det. Insp. Jack Regan rides...

The crime involves banks robbed by an inside man using underground wiring; but the plot thickens when Myra Frances is introduced as... well... at first the flirtatious Regan thinks she's merely the new guy's old college friend...

But what's important occurs after Thaw thaws out to the young Det. Sgt. David Keel (played by IF... actor Robert Swann) who gets shot in a warehouse stand-off and is laid out, bleeding badly, exposed in the open as every attempt Regan and co-star/partner Dennis Waterman's Det. Sgt. George Carter make to locate the hidden shooter, another bullet's intentionally fired into another non-vital spot...

A dead-eye warning of what could happen if they don't back off (extremely similar to Stanley Kubrick's FULL METAL JACKET sniper-finale a decade later involving Dorian Harewood's tortuous and brutal, drawn-out demise)...:

But it's the very, very end when the lovely Myra Francis's Dr. Liz Keel tells Regan who she really is: He simply didn't know the badly wounded (though not dying) victim has the same last name as the now deeply concerned female surgeon -- a last name she wasn't born with, providing our famously womanizing Regan the epitome of not only the perfect girl who got away, but one that wasn't his to begin (or end up) with...

For all the SWEENEY ingenues, Myra Francis had both looks and brains: The genuine article -- with perfect punctuation!

Too much of Regan

Warning: Spoilers
Not a great episode, although the story, about an engineer held hostage in an empty house, is okay. Too much of this features the quasi-romantic stuff with the female doctor and Regan. I'm really not liking Regan with all of the sub-plots involving women he features in, it feels really tiresome and drags out the story no end.
