The second and last Sweeney film, Sweeney 2, would revisit the storyline of a new, young, tall, handsome and conservatively-dressed member of the Flying Squad who Regan is initially at complete odds with being polar opposites. This character is a DS played by Robert Swann, and in Sweeney 2, Michael J. Jackson plays a new driver.
This edition was fourth in the charts with an audience of 8.8 million under the JICTAR Ratings System.
Shaun Curry (Ronald Peters) previously appeared with Dennis Waterman in Up the Junction (1968). And later appeared with him in Temporary Secretary (1992). He also later appeared with John Thaw in Fit-Up (1984)
