- Michael ignores Jackie's mean refusal to invite Fez and Hyde to the fancy party she hosts in her posh parents' home. The attire is semi-formal casual. The invitations are handwritten and equally fancy. Jackie tells Donna that she is looking forward to throwing fancy dinner parties all the time when she is married to Kelso. She pictures Fez as a butler in those future parties
Kelso is not looking forward to the party. Jackie insists to Kelso that Fez and Hyde cannot come, but he still brings them. He even adds dubious acquaintances, including scamp Timmy (Paul Connor), who starts by stripping off his pants. Kelso reckoned having Fez, Hyde and Timmy would make the party more fun. Jackie goes to sulk in her room, demanding Kelso 'fixes it'. Donna makes Jackie realizes that her expectations of Kelso are not realistic. It is likely that Kelso will never be sophisticated and smart as Jackie wants him to be. Jackie says that Donna is wrong about Kelso. She is confident that Kelso knows he made a mistake and he will make amends.
Unaccustomed to the mundane, Eric overdoes it when Donna suggests he should relax and enjoy himself. Eric acts all super relaxed, drunk and goofy at the party, which earns him a rebuke from Donna.
Things get even worse when Kelso accidentally sets her house on fire. Hyde and Fez try to explain to Kelso that a fancy party meant the world to Jackie and he ruined it. Kelso invited all the people to make the party fun, but Jackie wanted her party and not a "fun" one. Kelso and the gang were drinking Jackie's father's fancy alcohol and smoking his expensive cigars. Kelso realizes that he made a mistake and was sending everybody home. He throws the cigar he is smoking in a waste basket, to signal the end of the party, which starts the fire. Kelso and his friends bring it under control before the whole house is destroyed. Kelso apologizes to Jackie. Fez also says that Kelso wanted to fix things, but he is stupid and hence set the house on fire instead. Jackie is really angry with Kelso and says she has a lot of thinking to do.
Hyde claims to be dating the most popular girl in school Kat Peterson (Amy Adams), who is more than happy to smooch his face off in private but won't be seen as his girlfriend in public. Kat totally brushes Hyde off at Jackie's party. Hyde is eventually OK with that. Fez cannot believe that Hyde has landed Kat Peterson.
Kitty has decided to invite Bob and Midge for dinner, as they keep inviting the Formans. Meanwhile Red has accidentally discovered Bob wears a hair-rug and tells Kitty, so that becomes the elephant in Red's living room on the couple's scrabble night. Kitty and Red cannot stop staring at Bob's head all the time. Bob admits he is vain about his looks and wears a rug. He takes it off in front of Red and Kitty, who beg him to put it back on.
