- After an underwater UFO has attacked and sunk a freight ship in the ocean, Straker, Foster and SHADO lieutenant Nina Barry join a submarine crew to find out what they can. However, they too are attacked by the UFO's vessel and, as a result, their submarine is grounded on a ledge. Straker has to overcome his claustrophobia in order to work out an escape plan.—don @ minifie-1
- A freight ship is sailing on the ocean. Suddenly, the captain spots a UFO underwater. The alien ship sinks the freight ship.
The underwater facilities of SHADO detect an increase in the temperature of the water. They look for the UFO, and guess that there must be an underwater alien base. A weird green dome is found out in the middle of the ocean.
During an alien attack, Edward Straker (Ed Bishop) and Paul Foster (Michael Billington) watch one of their crewman on the dome. Jim Lewis (Paul Maxwell) denies any knowledge about that, because he was supposed to be somewhere else. Dr Doug, Straker and Foster interrogate him. The good doctor finally drugs him in order to try to extract the truth.
Straker and Foster go down to the dome to see what it is for themselves. The green structure kind of swallows them up. Inside, they watch the officer they had just left at SHADO headquarters walking like a robot.
Suddenly, Foster attacks Straker. Foster also moves rigidly, like a robot. Straker bests Foster in the ensuing fight. Immediately, Straker goes to hide. Foster appears and talks to him nonchalantly. When Foster asks Straker what he has been dreaming about, Straker says "about you", and points to the Foster who is on the floor.
Foster and Straker hide the body somewhere and keep on walking along the eerily lit corridors. Finally, they read a reproduction of the SHADO main cabin. They hear a noise and they hide. Exact replicas of all the crew appear. They can also manipulate and imitate the conversations among the human crewmembers. They can even imitate the static-filled sound. When the conversation with the seabase finishes, all the replicas leave in silence.
Almost an hour has gone by. Straker had told the base to shoot in an hour if they didn't appear. Lew Waterman (Gary Myers) is the person who anxiously waits for Foster and Straker to appear.
Waterman finally takes the decision to shoot the torpedos. The island above explodes as if a million volcanoes started at the same time. Straker leaves on the spot of time.
Back on SHADO headquarters in the UK; they detect a flotilla of UFO's around the moon. All units at moonbase leave it to fight the weirdly rotating UFO's, which for some reason don't defend themselves. :-)
