The show begins with a prisoner, Al Remp (J.D. Cannon) being thrown into solitary confinement. He's not taking it lying down and he's kicking up a fuss. After all...he's done nothing. However, once in the cell he is surprised that it's all a set-up...a chance for this reformed prisoner to meet with Ness. As for Ness, he wants Remp to help him get evidence on Remp's old boss, Fat Augie (Peter Whitney). At first, Remp refuses...at first.
Once Remp begins working for Remp again, things go smoothly...except with Remp's wife. She is certain her husband is back in the mob but she's been kept in the dark about Al's involvement with Ness. She thinks he's gone bad...and begins making things tough for her husband as she starts approaching Ness about her husband. Why they didn't explain things to her, I have no idea...but I know it will bite them in the butt later. There also is the problem that Al seems to LIKE his new life....and you wonder who, exactly, he's really working for this time.
While generally I liked this episode, the big confrontation scene between Mrs. Remp and Ness made zero sense...absolutely none. It was badly written and stupid. Cutting out this one brief scene would have vastly improved the show. Additionally, soon after this, Al is being held prisoner by one of Fat Augie's men...and how Remp reacts again defies common sense. Why NOT tell Ness "I am being held at gunpoint"??? Otherwise, an okay episode that SHOULD have been a lot better.
