- Victor Durand once ran a bogus clinic before Dan sent him to prison. Now Durand takes revenge by stealing a toxin, infecting Dan with it, and taunting him, while Dan and his doctors frantically search for a cure to keep Dan alive.
- A phony janitor steals a vial of toxin (for which there is no known antidote yet) from a government lab. He ingeniously infects Dan with it. Feeling ill, Dan goes to a doctor who finds Dan has been infected with a toxin and may have as little as 24 hours to live. The perp turns out to be Dr. Durrand, a sleazy doctor whom Dan sent to jail but who has escaped by switching identities with another prisoner in exchange for $10,000. Dan and his police buddy, Lt. David Nelson, go to the prison where the perp is supposed to be and the identity switch is discovered. Meanwhile, Durrand keeps calling and taunting Dan as the latter's pain progresses. Durrand comes to see Dan die with his own eyes. He also brings a flask containing an antidote. A brawl ensues, Durrand throws the glass vial and shatters it, then gets knocked out by Binzer who notes that a small amount of the antitoxin remains usable. Dan is restored to health and Durrand goes back to jail for attempted murder.—Robert Sieger
