Two Murders In Coulter Station
bkoganbing18 September 2019
Trampas gets deputized and asked to bring Bob Coulter,Jr. back to Coulter Station on a warrant for homicide. Coulter is played by Robert Pine and the town is named after his dad Simon Oakland who runs the local Ponderosa. Pine is accused of killing a girl while in a drunken stupor.

When Trampas gets to town with his prisoner he finds a very nervous deputy Tom Simcox holding down the fort as the sheriff has also been killed. There are a lot angry people in the town, friends of Oakland and friends of the family of the victim.

Forensic evidence wasn't a science then, but Doug McClure finds forensic evidence that identifies the real killer.

Nice performances by the ensemble cast.

Very enjoyable, but left one important question unanswered

Trampas is always fun to watch and this was no exception. Almost everything made sense in this story except one important thing. When we find out who the guilty party was, there was no explanation for the motive. It didn't ruin the episode for me, but I sure would have liked to know the one expected detail in any "who done it," which is "why?"

If I somehow missed a clue that would answer my question, I'd be happy for someone to fill in the blank.

Just mho ab "young Bob" aka Robert Pine ...

The only other reviewer (for now) did a great job, so no need to go into all that. Only here to mention that i only knew Robert Pine aka "young Bob" from CHIPS. He played the Sgt and i thought he was a handsome older man. Now that i've realized that this is a much younger Robert, WOW he was a beautiful kid!

Well crafted plot with a satisfying conclusion
Nat-213 April 2024
Trampas is deputized and asked to transport a murder suspect to the town of Coulter Station. The prisoner, a meek young man, is accused of killing his girlfriend and escaping justice. He admits that he and his girlfriend had argued, but claims he was drunk and passed out and has no memory of the crime. Trampas looks forward to seeing his old friend, the sheriff of the town. When he arrives there with his prisoner, he learns that the sheriff died just a day or two earlier after being thrown by his horse and dragged. Trampas, along with the man's daughter, both have doubts about the accident. He sets out to discover the truth beside both incidents, which he believes are connected somehow. A strong episode deftly weaves together a complex plot with intriguing side stories. Very well done all around, with a satisfying ending.
