old west version of Love Story
gareif19 May 2006
I remember this episode when it was first aired (yes, I'm that old) and hoped that it would be repeated in the summer. Back then a rerun was a treat, not the torture we endure today. The story was simple but one of those airings that fall into place with writers, directors, and actors. The opening scene is the Virginian on a hill overlooking what was to be his home with a wife. The was a duet with Randy Boone & Roberta Shore as they often sang for a few years. The bride was terminally ill but her sister who knew the truth was determined to give her one last spring. I am personally hoping that the whole Virginian series is available on DVD soon.

Romance for The Virginian
bkoganbing1 January 2020
James Drury and Mariette Hartley who were in the supporting cast of Ride The High Country are reunited in this Virginian episode. Hartley and her sister Katharine Cannon and their grandfather Carl Benton Reid have moved to Medicine Bow where Cannon is the new schoolteacher.

Drury and Cannon fall in love and romance is in the air. But Cannon's not been told she has a terminal illness. I think you can figure out the rest.

This is a beautiful episode with some plot elements of Dark Victory and of the later Love Story. You won't have a dry eye after seeing this.

Somewhere in this episode, felicity calls the Virginian by his real name. Can anyone remember what his name was?
