Past his prime
bkoganbing19 September 2019
For a guy who when he was a leading man in the 30s and 40s did most of his work in evening attire, Franchot Tone scores very well as the grizzled old cowboy past his prime. But he doesn't believe it and neither does grandson Billy Mumy.

The Virginian hires Tone somewhat reluctantly and it's proven over and again that the man is past his prime. In the meantime Mumy has befriended Trampas and that makes Tone only more jealous.

Loved this episode. Franchot Tone is remarkable in this part.

As another cowboy hero said, 'man's got to know his limitations'.
