Felizia Kingdom : Where're your guns?
Flint McCullough : Not far from here, Ma'am.
Felizia Kingdom : You disarmed them?
Flint McCullough : Yes, Ma'am.
Felizia Kingdom : And may I ask why?
Flint McCullough : Well, they started making jokes, and all of a sudden I lost my sense of humour.
Felizia Kingdom : So you deprived them of their weapons, mm? That was very adroit of you, Mister?
Flint McCullough : McCullough.
Felizia Kingdom : Because they're very competent with weapons. That's why I employ them. What technique did you use?
-
Felizia Kingdom : Snare, this gentleman's impudence is beginning to tire me.
Flint McCullough : How many acres do you have, Mrs Kingdom?
Felizia Kingdom : You're quite helpless and yet you demand statistics. Very well then. 300,000 acres, more or less.
Flint McCullough : I wonder if you have deeds to all of them.
Felizia Kingdom : I have what's far more important to me. I HAVE THE LAND. I HAVE THE LAND!
-
Felizia Kingdom : Are you threatening a defenceless old woman, Mr McCullough?
Flint McCullough : Mrs Kingdom, I'd hardly call you defenceless.
-
Felizia Kingdom : Well, he's our guest. We show him all the amenities. Ask him his preference.
Snare : Carried, you'd be more comfortable, Mister. You wouldn't feel a thing 'cos we carry them real dainty-like.
Flint McCullough : I'll walk, thanks very much. May I get my rifle.
[He turns sharply like a jerk, smashes his elbow into Snare's throat, scoops up Snare's handgun, and places the gun on the desk in front of Mrs Kingdom]
Flint McCullough : You shouldn't let children play with dangerous weapons.
-
Flint McCullough : When I was a boy, I had my pants tested regularly, but I always had the opportunity of dropping them myself.
Felizia Kingdom : Well, I'm sure the dusting has made you the man you are now.
Flint McCullough : Thank you.
-
Flint McCullough : What have you got up your sleeve?
Felizia Kingdom : I knew you'd see it. I never pick 'em wrong. What've I got up my sleeve? Nothing but aces, Mr McCullough.
Flint McCullough : And I figure about five of them.
Felizia Kingdom : Ooh, at the very least.
-
Flint McCullough : One of these days I'll settle down, get myself a spread.
Felizia Kingdom : You like ranching?
Flint McCullough : Yes, Ma'am, it's a good life.
Felizia Kingdom : Where're you going to settle?
Flint McCullough : I don't know. There's lots of country. But I think I prefer California.
Felizia Kingdom : Well, what's wrong with this territory?
Flint McCullough : Well, there's nothing wrong with it, but most of it's already taken. You can't pass through it, let alone homestead on it.
Felizia Kingdom : May prove easier than you think.
-
Felizia Kingdom : All my life, I've had to put up with half-hearted man, mollycoddles, my own husband, Jonathon Kingdom, married him when I was twenty. My father left me 50,000 acres of land. Jonathon was content with it but I wasn't. I saw the possibilities of a great horse and cattle empire. I wanted it. Jonathon took up fishing. So while he fished, I started to build up what you see here. I fought for it. Fought for every inch, acre, rod and mile. Indians, squatters, even Government agents. This isn't just a ranch. IT IS ME! So I can't leave it to an Alec.
-
Flint McCullough : Why pick on me?
Felizia Kingdom : I sized you up the moment I saw you. In your hands this ranch would flourish as it did in mine. And your heirs.
Flint McCullough : My heirs?
Felizia Kingdom : Yours and Angela's. They'll carry on the tradition. Good stock breeds good stock.
Flint McCullough : Good stock, huh.
Felizia Kingdom : Well, what's wrong with being compared with a thoroughbred?
Flint McCullough : Only one thing, lady, I'm not a horse. This afternoon you ordered death, and now you order life. How does it feel to have all that power?
-
Felizia Kingdom : Maria, show Mr McCullough to his room. And you boys see that he gets there safely.
Frenchy : It's got a Southern exposure. You'll be real comfy there, boy.
-
Felizia Kingdom : I should have called your bluff, Mr McCullough. You do get upset over a little matter of killing.
-
Flint McCullough : I'm going back to the wagon train, dump this problem in the Major's lap.
Felizia Kingdom : I have no wish to see your wagon train.
Flint McCullough : You're not invited. You can get out any place you like.
Felizia Kingdom : How will I get home?
Flint McCullough : You're not very far. They'll find you.
Felizia Kingdom : Aren't you being rather cruel to an old lady, Mr McCullough?
Flint McCullough : You're a fine one to talk about cruelty.
-
Felizia Kingdom : Who else but a terrified woman would have put up such a show of strength as I did. Only panic could have made me that ruthless. I was afraid to be weak. To have my secret discovered. To have people mock me.
Flint McCullough : I can't picture anyone mocking you.
-
Felizia Kingdom : I'll soon be my old self again, an older old self, of course.
