- Wanting a safe escort through Indian country, a stranger rides upon the wagon train. Telling the major his reasons for being there, the truth is soon uncovered and it causes two men to come to change their lifelong habits.
- Jasper Cato asks Major Adams to join the wagon train as it crosses Indian territory. He is obviously from the east but says he is not wanted. Adams lets him join the train but has reservations. Cato stirs up the other members of the train with his snooping forcing Adams to ask him what he is up to. Cato says the man he is after has an inheritance waiting but he is not on the train. He gives Adams a description of the man which Adams recognizes but does not tell Cato. The next day as the train camps, he leaves the train to go to the next town to see Adam's godson whose father may be the man in question. When Adams confronts Jim about Cato, Jim tells Adams that he is the man and wanted for stealing $1,000. Cato followed Adams and tells Jim he is under arrest. However, Jim escapes knocking out Cato and tying up Adams. When Adams breaks loose and Cato wakes up, Cato tells his version of what happened. To their surprise Jim returns to take his punishment but there is still more to the story that Adams needs to know.—Anonymous
