-
Flint McCullough : Him say: Wagon chief keep word last time. This time White Eagle say shoot Buffalo one for each finger on hand.
Bill Hawks : Five Buffalo?
-
Flint McCullough : Sure. He's not nearly the heartless beast he pretends to be.
-
Flint McCullough : All right. You don't have to yell at me.
Major Seth Adams : Then do your job. And quit whimpering to my people.
Flint McCullough : Oh, well, I'm very sorry, Major Adams. Forgive me. Only I've been away for the last several days. And I didn't realise the wagon master had turned into some kind of Simon Legree.
Major Seth Adams : One more word out of you, McCullough, like that and you can ride the trail ahead on your own time.
Flint McCullough : Is that a threat?
Major Seth Adams : You've got ears.
Flint McCullough : Well, you better make it good or withdraw it on the spot.
Major Seth Adams : Are you trying to tell me what to do again?
Flint McCullough : I'm telling you about this.
Major Seth Adams : All right, McCullough, you start riding. You pick up your wages and start riding.
Flint McCullough : It's a pleasure.
-
Will Hardisty : For instance, I pay $1,000 a month to a man who'd set up law and order around here. Of course, he's have to be honest too. He'd have to be the type of man who didn't like to see anybody stabbed in the back.
Flint McCullough : You're offering me the job, Mr Hardisty?
-
Flint McCullough : I'm not a lawman.
Will Hardisty : I think you fit my requirements.
Flint McCullough : But I don't think my heart would be in this kind of operation.
-
Flint McCullough : And you don't like it?
[Flint turns her hand over to look at the the ostentatious costume jewellery ring on her wedding finger]
Goldie : Yes, but I'm not happy about it. I was once and I could be again. If we ever get out of here. But we won't. I've got a rival.
Flint McCullough : Not that I've noticed.
Goldie : Tent City. And the mines outside. And the twelve other mines. And the interest in twenty others. Plus the interest in all the mines of all the men who're up here gambling tonight.
-
Flint McCullough : Well, there's no court or judge around here. If I were you, I'd get out of here before there is one.
Sally Jo Jeffers : You mean that, Mister?
Flint McCullough : I wouldn't even wait for it to stop raining.
Sally Jo Jeffers : Rafe, you're free, you're FREE.
Rafe Jeffers : Now this ain't right, Mister. Appears to me you get yourself into a pack of trouble turning me loose like this.
Flint McCullough : Now, you let me worry about that. Huh?
-
Rafe Jeffers : You reckon they would, Mister, hang me?
Flint McCullough : They might.
[He is dressing Jeffers' wounded wrist]
Rafe Jeffers : Turned out I didn't really knife him. I's the only one that got hurt.
Flint McCullough : Who got hurt not's the point. The whole thing was your responsibility.
-
Flint McCullough : Maybe we should try the Indian way?
Major Seth Adams : McCullough!
[the Major is exasperated with the turn of events]
Flint McCullough : White Eagle, when two braves don't agree, how do you settle the argument?
White Eagle : Fight. One Die. Brave who lives is right.
Flint McCullough : All right. Why don't we settle this argument that way? You want my prisoner, I don't plan to give him to you.
White Eagle : White Scout fool to challenge White Eagle.
Flint McCullough : Maybe so. But you're challenged.
White Eagle : Who fight for wagon chief's prisoner?
Flint McCullough : Why don't we settle the whole thing all at once? If there aren't any objections, I'll fight for the wagon chief.
Major Seth Adams : I'll do my own fighting, if there's any to be done.
Flint McCullough : There's a lot of things that you know that I don't know, Major, but how to fight this Indian, on his terms, isn't one of them.
Major Seth Adams : Well, all right. If you're so dern fool enough to do it, go ahead.
-
Charlie Wooster : You know we haven't played any two-handed for a long time
[Flint is dealing]
Flint McCullough : A long time.
Charlie Wooster : I'd like to bet you $5.
Flint McCullough : On what?
Charlie Wooster : If you gave the Major half a chance, you be back scouting for him before this afternoon.
Flint McCullough : That's a bet I'll take.
Charlie Wooster : Good. He's beginning to soften up already. And I ain't halfway through working on him.
