The liver protest
kevinolzak27 June 2016
"The Sit-In" opens with Mr. Woodman dressed in a raincoat, anticipating the food fight meant to protest liver every Wednesday by the Sweathogs. Kotter manages to convince them that a petition would be a far better method for making their grievances heard, but Woodman is adamant: "if I die, I'm taking all of you with me!" As a last resort, Kotter suggests a sit down protest, staying after school until their demands are met. Gabe and Juan exchange Groucho and Chico, while Arnold mysteriously intones the word 'reasoner' (he has dinner at night with Harry Reasoner!). Sleeping arrangements are complicated by Barbarino, who explains how he sleeps in the nude, and tries to sneak over to the girls' side of the room. By morning, even honor students Judy Borden (Helaine Lembeck) and Todd Ludlow (Dennis Bowen, third of five) have heard about the protest and want to join in, finally convincing Woodman to do something about liver. Having succeeded in making themselves heard, it's Kotter who tries to wake up Barbarino, who thinks that Gabe is his mother!
