- The Magistrado and his associates plan on using a horse race as a diversion while they smuggle arms. Zorro uncovers the scheme, and makes an attempt to stop them.
- Don Diego and Capitan Toledano are amused to see young children singing songs about Zorro, but the Magistrado is angry and orders Sargeant Garcia to stop them. Garcia tries, but the children outfox him like Zorro. Don Alejandro and Diego are invited by the Magistrado to attend a meeting at the tavern. The Magistrado announces he would like to hold a horse race and asks everyone to contribute to the prize money. Diego is suspicious, especially when the Magistrado encourages all the soldiers to join the race. Alejandro asks Diego to ride Princessa in the race, but Diego pretends to be injured by falling off. Meanwhile, Bernado notices that a blind beggar man appears to be passing secret messages between the Magistrado and Figueroa. Zorro rides to Los Angeles to investigate. Zorro follows the blind man, who is not really blind and knows he is being followed. Zorro hides, but is nearly discovered when he is cornered by a barking dog. Zorro climbs up on the roof and meows like a cat to throw the Magistrado and blind man off his trail. Zorro follows them into a building where a secret meeting is being held. He overhears their plan to smuggle arms and gun powder out of the cuartel while all the soldiers are in the horse race. Zorro enters the horse race and leads the soldiers back to the cuartel in time to stop the thieves.
