When Zorro grabs the Alcalde's sword by the blade and jabs the handle into his stomach, the blade can be seen bending nearly 45 degrees in Zorro's hand, revealing it to be a cheap prop. In the next shot, the blade is completely straight again.
The sergeant hangs a portrait of the Alcalde in Victoria's tavern, informing her that, by order of the Alcalde, a portrait of him must hang in all public spaces. Victoria's inn/tavern is not a public space, but a private business.
When threatening the sergeant (and also taunting him for his poor spelling), the Alcalde reminds him that, "there are 2 'g's in 'flogging.'" There are, of course, 3 'g's in 'flogging.'
