Fun episode !

Warning: Spoilers
Edith hears from Archie and they all await his return. The story on how he ended up at the wrong place is hilarious .Mike and Gloria keep needling each other it's amusing to listen and watch them goad and irritate instead of the usual lovey dovey stuff. Sally Struthers and Rob Reiner had amazing chemistry whether Mike and Gloria were fighting or getting along. I don't think that's always appericated it's that chemistry works that perfectly and this is one of the episodes you see how well they work togerther even when the characters are on each other's nerves .

As the day goes on Irene,Loiuse and George end up at the Bunker's for different reasons and all are involved in activities that make Archie think they can't get along without him when he walks through the door!

Zany end to outstanding trilogy
vitoscotti31 January 2022
This episode was more or less a bunch of silly skits woven together before Archie comes home. Sally Strutters gets a lot of extra screen time to showcase her wonderful comedic talent. With Carroll O'Connor missing it was a recipe for disaster. But, 3 very funny topflight episodes were made much to my surprise. Probably 3 of the zanier AITF episodes of the series. A real tribute to the cast and crew.

Weak Lackluster Conclusion
McGannahanSkjellyfetti24 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Part 3 was possibly the WEAKEST episode of the first five All in the Family seasons. The whole "Where's Archie - Archie Is Missing" storyline comes to a disappointing conclusion with "The Longest Kiss." Archie's whole whereabouts is explained by Edith within the first three minutes of the episode and then after that nothing really happens, but pointless nonsense like goofy soda product placement, Mike and Gloria doing silly childish things, and then Edith and neighbors getting all drunk and acting all goofy waiting for Archie's grand return at the final minute of this lackluster episode. This was possibly due to the producers busting O'Connor's balls for him winning out on his "strike" by giving him as little screen time as possible upon his return. Just shows how the egos of TV executives undermine the medium...

Just read McGannahan Skjellyfetti's review!!!

I would have to say that of all the episodes of "All in the Family" that "The Longest Kiss" is probably the worst. The episode is directionless, looks 100% improvised and falls completely flat and there's nothing good to say about the show. What makes this worse is that the previous two episodes were all about Archie's disappearance and the final episode in the trilogy, this one, simply begins by Edith announcing that Archie is fine and is heading home!!! Talk about being anti-climactic. Then, inexplicably, Gloria and Mike spend the rest of the episode arguing for no reason whatsoever...none. While Mike was sometimes a hypocritical fat-head on "All in the Family", here he's just nasty and hateful towards his wife. WHY!?!? I have no idea...but it's not fun watching these two sparring throughout the show. At least with Archie and Michael arguing there was a point....here it's simply arguing for the sake of arguing. Pointless and about as fun as sticking lima beans up your nose. Did it end any better? No...the ending was incredibly contrived and made little sense...making me wonder if anyone really cared that week they made this one.
