Ross runs inside the house hiding from a new girl in town, Nikki Lee Blake (Susan Melvin). The Southern girl speaks flatteringly to Natalie, Patty and Cathy who all instantly like her. She generously gives presents to Ross in hopes of having him take her to an upcoming dance at school. Being a charity dance for orphan children, Natalie insists Ross goes. Patty dismisses her little brother's plea for help, but Cathy goes to his room to find he is packing to run away. Martin's talk with Patty makes her realize the importance of Ross' feelings. Patty talks to Ross about girls and teaches him how to dance and what to talk about with Nikki Lee. The family works with him and anxiously await to know how the dance went.
