The Return of Ba'al
claudio_carvalho27 February 2022
When a spacecraft is shot down in the SGC airspace, they find that the pilot is Ba'al and capture him. He proposes that the SGC eliminates his clones and offers the position of each one; in return, he offers the location of the Merlin's weapon. The SGC does not believe in his story, but decides to capture his clones. Meanwhile NID Agent Malcolm Barrett wants to interrogate Ba'al, but Gen. Landry does not give him permission.
"Insiders" is an episode of "Stargate SG-1" with a stupid storyline. Agent Malcolm Barrett flashing his badge to the sentinel is ridiculous. But the worst is Lt. Col. Samantha Carter easily giving the information to the alien enemy. Awful situations that destroy the promising show. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Insiders"

Once again Samantha screws up

Warning: Spoilers
Once again Carter screws up, and everyone is like, oh, it's not your fault. Ya, yes it is. Kinda huge. Hmm the fate of the galaxy is hanging in the balance, and you throw it away because ba'al threatened 1 person.
Just like the previous episode that Carter screwed up, and ended up getting pats on the back...
SGC are idiots

Ba'als Die Like Jacksons
fcabanski8 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
In Star Trek it was red shirts who were expendable. IN early SG-1 it was Jackson dying multiple times. In Season 9 and 10 SG-1 it's Ba'al. They can kill him off because there are Ba'al clones. So each death doesn't matter.
Everyone's still looking for the anti-ascended weapon. But that's the only connection to the Ori story. It could be exciting to have a hunt for Ba'al, but it's done in a way that makes it seem more and more routine. In fact, the routine-ness of it is a purposeful feature of the episode.
"Oh look, we caught two more Ba'al's".
There's lots of ball jokes.
It's a good thing to let the audience know something the heroes don't know. But the clever plan Ba'al executes is so simple that it makes the SGC folks look stupid for not figuring it out and stopping it.
It wasn't a matter of if Ba'al had a way to overcome the transport jamming. It was a matter of where he would go before transporting off the base.
This episode was painful to watch.

More SGC Idiocy

Fire, fire them all. Everyone in the SGC, the writers, everyone. More lazy writing that tears down the characters, making them seem idiots.
The whole trope of giving up secrets of a universal importance all because of a threat to kill a hostage insults our intelligence. It's lame, tired, choose your own adjective.
More evidence that this should have been a shorter season. Less episodes, more focus on the main storyline arc.
