Come back Shane

Warning: Spoilers
Actor Shane Rimmer (who provides uncredited vocal performances for this series) takes over as scripter of this one-off episode. It plays like a vacation show in which Joe gets to show off his derring-do and heroism even when not working on an official agent mission for WIN.

Rimmer, often appearing in British productions calling for American characters in support roles, is Canadian, and has written a story taking place entirely in Canada. Mac and Joe are vacationing there, staying with a military man relative, Uncle Pat. Joe has his special glasses on, with the brain patterns of a top bobsledder available to give him expertise on the slopes.

Without the usual adult supervision, Joe saves the day when the Canadian Prime Minister is held for $1,000,000 ransom as a pair of escaped convicts use ceremonial artillery to damage a bridge that the PM's train is crossing. Mac arranges for Joe to deliver the ransom and of course the villains don't take seriously a 9-year-old kid as an adversary. But Joe foils them in a gun fight and takes over control of the escape helicopter to deliver the baddies to the authorities.

Uncle Pat listens to Joe telling the story, and doesn't believe even for a moment that the kid did all that. And the final twist of how Joe learned all the stuff to carry this off is quite clever.
