Sleeping and Evaluated
claudio_carvalho27 February 2022
The SG-1 travels to a planet where Daniel believes Merlin's weapon might be. However, the SGC does not allow Vala to go since she needs to be submitted to a psychiatric evaluation first. The SG-1 finds in a planet where the locals seems to have died while sleeping. Soon they learn that they are infected by a parasite that kills the hostage while they sleep. Despite being exhausted, the group tries to stay awake to be alive. Meanwhile, Vala seems to be failing in her test and Richard Wolsey makes an indecent proposal to her.

"Morpheus" is an episode of "Stargate SG-1" with two good storylines: Vala proving her value to Gen. Landry is funny and the conclusion of her evaluation is not expected. The storyline of the SG-1 investigating a planet recalls the first episodes of this series, better and better and these wars against powerful aliens. The cinematography of this show is very dark. My vote is seven.

Warning: Spoilers
Like many episodes during the Ori story, this one begins with a reminder of the Ori invasion. Planets are falling. Mitchell reminds that it isn't a war, because the Ori are beating the good guys to a pulp. SG-1 needs to find Merlin's weapon. Daniel finds the address for a planet where Merlin might have hidden the weapon.

Then the impending threat of the Ori disappears, the search for the weapon disappears. They have to find a way to stop a sleep disease planted by Morgan Le Fey. To do that, they have to catch a lizard.

It's another SG-1 series fake out: mentioning the main threat, then vaulting off into a story about nothing.

The B plot, Vala getting her psyche eval., is the most interesting part of the episode. It's a lesson in grace. Vala thinks it's all about her past sins: lying, stealing, conning. But it's about her loyalty to SG-1.

At least the episode began with a search for something to stop the Ori.

One Two Freddy's coming for you

Basically filler, doesn't advance the main storyline though it does try. SG1 with their typical blaze ahead attitude without even stopping to consider something may be amiss.

A good start to series 10
stevendigby27 October 2006
This is episode 2 of series 10 and it's off to a good start. Episode one has the job of trying to bridge the gap from the previous series; it has the job of reminding the viewers where we are in the story-history and also kick off the story lines for the upcoming series. So episode two is where we get the first full story.

There are two story threads. Vala has to prove to Major Landry that she can be a team player and has to pass a psychological test. Mitchell, Jackson, Carter and Teal'c follow a lead to an empty village to go through it's library for clues to three places where a weapon may be found that can defeat the Ori. Unfortunately, what they find is a sleeping sickness that infects them all. They can't go back while infected; they can't stay or the sickness will kill them... There are lots of good moments in this episode. Claudia Black (as Vala) is just a wonder to watch in a role that she's obviously having fun with. I sincerely hope that she's going to be a permanent addition to SG1. The second Psycho-babble question she looks up in order to 'cram' for the 'test' is from Blade Runner - 'You see a turtle upside down in the backing sun... Why aren't you helping it?'. Her answer: 'Because you are a turtle too'. Magic! Mitchell's 'Are they the Knights who say "Ni"?' is from Monty Python's Holy Grail (or 'Spamalot'). With Arthur featuring highly in series 10 this surely is the start of a whole series of Monty Python and the Holy Grail quotes!

Morpheus is, of course, the god of sleep.

Arthurian Pablum

This us for 6 year old children. What started as a terrific show devolved into garbage the last 2 seasons. This is hideously bad. Total trash.
