Following the disastrous dinner party meant to introduce Peter to the Tates, Jessica attempts to confess her infidelity to Chester, who misinterprets that she's accusing him (an accusation she would never make, as she believes him to be a faithful husband). Mary confronts Burt about his lack of interest in the bedroom, offering him a book titled "The Cookbook of Sex," complete with illustrations. Burt's joy at a reunion with his son Peter helps him patch things up with his two stepsons, Danny and Jodie. Danny cannot acknowledge that his brother is gay, believing him to be a practical joker with a wonderful sense of humor. When Danny decides to take the contract offered by the Godfather, he learns that he's now required to murder his own stepfather Burt, with whom he is just starting to develop a real relationship (the Godfather even gives him a paper bag containing a gun, saying "what did you think it was, spumoni to go?"). Danny has little choice in the matter since, if he fails in his task, the Mob will rub him out instead. The Godfather enthuses about his mother's linguini ("it's better than sex") as he gives a shocked Danny the gruesome details, adding that he himself would have done the same thing if he were Burt (Danny's father, Johnny Dallas, was not a nice person).
