Great ( warning Spoiler alert)

Warning: Spoilers
A teenage girl tricks her little brother in to believing in monsters, hes very easy to trick and is rather gullible. The girl then finds out the library worker is actually a monster. He eats insects. The story develops the characters really well. The monster is following Lucy ( the girls name) around after she spotted him as a monster, the day after. We find out he turns Human after dark ( daylight ). Lucy is scared and frightened about this occurring incidents that occur out of nowhere. But this resolves in love which is fine for me but I see why other people don't like the ending ( its horror, not fantasy) type thing. The Horror in this isn't great but the idea is perfect. The resolution not so much though. It gets resolved way to easily and leaves me on a little bit of a disappointing note. However this episode is an 8/10 so solid entertainment and enjoyable

Show rating though is still at an 8.5/10

"Keep running little one, I love fast fooo-oood!!!"
This is probably my favourite episode of this show, I think it's a decent adaptation of the book it's based on, and I really love the weird spooky atmosphere in the scenes in the old library, which I think is a superb setting for scary monster happenings, and I absolutely love the monster, I think he is damn scary for a kids show! Those big gross bulbous black eyes, wicked sharp teeth, and the sick bug eating! The guy was downright nightmarish, and I love him, he's so evil, it's so funny the way he revels in his own luxurious monstrousness!!! I also enjoy the performance of the man who plays Mortman in his human form. He's just so ~ew~, as soon as you lay eyes on the guy his softly-spoken slimy vibe is just eerie somehow, and he always comes off as unnecessarily creepy even when he's supposed to be acting normal! The actor really nailed it. I agree that the ending really does bring down the whole story, but everything that leads up to it is just lovely. Unlike most people I don't dislike the twist-ending because it's so abrupt and comes out of nowhere without any foreshadowing, I dislike it because it's so sloppy and amateurishly done. The monster forms of the parents look so cheap and just lame, and the "cherry pie" line that the dad comes out with has gotta be the cheesiest bit of schlock this side of the planet!! Awfully over the top and hammy acting from that guy, and what about that terrible little brat who 'played' the little brother!? Don't know what the hell they were thinking when they stuck him in it, must've been the kid of a producer or something.. I actually liked the girl who played Lucy, she was good, I loved her beautiful mysterious dark eyes. Short and sweet, it's over before you have the time to really start hating it, and despite its *hefty* flaws it gets the job done. I like it a lot, there's some good effective atmosphere, gross creature effects, and to it's still a fun and entertaining episode. Farewell, delicious humans!

Decent enough tale, but the lame twist ending ruins it

Warning: Spoilers
Lucy loves to tease people about imaginary monster stories. She especially loves to torture her little brother about it. Lucy is horrified to learn that her male librarian is secretly a bug eating monster who also loves to eat humans. Lucy tries to tell everyone, but nobody takes her seriously. I absolutely loved anything to do with Goosebumps as a kid. I read all the books, and was an avid fan of this show as well. I discovered this on Netflix, and I was overjoyed. I had to revisit my childhood! How did it holdup? Pretty well! I wouldn't call this episode great, but it is fairly entertaining in a nonsensical way. The R.L Stine opening with the papers flying out of the briefcase made me smile. I remembered every bit of it. That being said, I never did care for the book. Naturally, this episode was decent at best. This is mainly for kids, but adults can garner enjoyment out of it as well. The monster (Wonderfully played by Lipinski) is pretty cool. Watching him eat bugs is admittedly gruesome. He gave the best performance by far. The rest of the cast is amateurish. Deborah Scorsone is pretty bad as Lucy. Not only that, but unlikable as well. This is her only acting credit (!) The terrible twist ending comes from out of left field, making no sense what so ever. It really turned me off, bringing the rating down a few notches.

Criticism of the ending aside, this is an OK tale about a girl who cried wolf. It gave me a few smiles, entertained me, then I completely forgot about it. I'll be checking out more episodes for sure!

Episode with a very original idea masked by absurd banality that cares a bit who goes to watch it and then amazes him at the end, it must be well done and with beautiful twists.
