Backstory: The Towering Inferno (2002)
This episode in the series takes a look at the making of THE TOWERING INFERNO, which was Irwin Allen's big-budget disaster picture that he managed to talk two studios into making together. The documentary covers pretty much everything from the pre-production to the release of the film and everything that happened in between. Original cast members Robert Wagner and Sheila Allen are on hand to discuss certain aspects of the film including the various stunts that had to be done. Other subjects include ALlen talking two studios into producing the film and there's also some great talk about the rivalry between Paul Newman and Steve McQueen, which many people felt would lead to production problems but they actually got along well. The same can't be said for William Holden and Faye Dunaway who actually had a physical altercation when the actress kept showing up late for fans. Fans of the film and series will enjoy this brief but entertaining look at the film.
