The French village of Najac and its real-life inhabitants are the material of this intimate, charming, and funny documentary. Their eccentricity and humanity are celebrated, never ridiculed. Saw this film in France, Sept 2006 (in French, no subtitles). The title translates something like "Najac to Earth..." as in a space ship radioing the home planet. The film is a follow-on to "La Vie comme elle va" (2003) (Eng: As Life Goes By), Jean-Henri Meunier's 2003 piece about the same patch of earth. I haven't seen the earlier film, but "Ici Najac" is wonderful. It deserves to be widely seen; I hope it finds international distribution.
