This is the second appearance of Connor Paolo in Law and Order SVU; the first being "Juvenile" 2002.
The Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP) group depicted in the open exists in real life. As of 2024 it's part of the New York Foundling umbrella of programs and services. The puppet shows are real, too, giving kids a safe and low-pressure environment to learn to recognize signs of abuse and to report any past abuse.
Dana Eskelson (Ms. Winnock) previously played the role of Karen Leighton in episode 4.22, Futility (2003).
Detective Stabler tells Dr. Lucas that if he cooperates in the search for Teddy he won't spend the rest of his life in prison for kidnapping. New York has one of the toughest punishments for kidnapping, in most states kidnapping in the second degree carries a maximum sentence of roughly 10 years and kidnapping in the first degree carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. However in New York kidnapping in second degree is a class B felony and carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 25 years; kidnapping in the first degree is a class A-I felony (the same category as murder) and carries a minimum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years, and a maximum sentence of 25 to life.
