- A journey to places, where the overseen Hollywood screenwriter Albert Isaac "Buzz" Bezzerides lived and worked, revealing the operation of Hollywood's production system in the 40ies, 50ies, 60ies and more ...
- A biopic about Albert "Buzz" Bezzerides, a Greek-American screenwriter who wrote many great film noir movies, and who was quite a colorful character himself. The film benefits from having interviews with Buzz, recorded shortly before his death (yet still full of life), and generous clips from the films he wrote (provided by Fox, I believe). Buzz himself provides some amusing anecdotes about film legends (such as Humphrey Bogart, a personal friend) while the film provides a revealing look at the life of a writer working at the highest levels of the studio system in the post-war period (Hollywood's heyday). We also learn about Buzz's family background (Greek, with roots in Turkey), and can't help but marvel at his journey, and be impressed with the effect he had on American popular culture. Worth watching. We all know someone like Buzz.
