Leary on Fire
BirdmanT71 June 2006
This past week season opener "Devil" was among the very best episodes I have ever seen on "Rescue Me". I never thought this show would go past the first season but the more I watched it the more I interesting it got. The cast and the writing of this show is so well executed; you are laughing one minute and the next you are thrown into a dramatic scene and kind of grabs you in a way that you realize how much thought went into each episode. The last scene when Gavin is trying to bring the little girl back to life mixed with the music and the cuts of his wife leading to the bedroom scene was just amazing, they hit the ball right out of the ball park with this scene when the music stopped and Davin lighted up that cigarette and the sound effect of his puff of his smoke had such an impact on that scene and it really deserves to be remembered or added into the archives one of the best scenes in TV classics. I can only say that scene blew my mind and I kept watching it over and over. "Rescue Me" has proved to be a show of substance and a true contender among cable or TV shows of our time. Well done to all the cast, crew, writers, and Mr. Denis Leary who is really on FIRE.

Season 3--Great off the Bat

Typical for Rescue Me... Great Season Opener. Touches all the bases and sets us up for a good ride. Tommy's situation will explode soon, and he is still the man. Chiefs wife in the nursing home, Proby turning into a full fledge fire fighter soon (they grow up so fast), Garrety treading a dangerous path, Sheila and her son were in there(even Tommy's Cousin). I can't wait to see what happens. The show is still just as smart as season 1 & 2, but I am noticing a little more Hollywood than before. That doesn't matter, I am not watching the show to document the real life of a firefighter and his brothers. Great Work, Great Show, Please keep them coming. FX has picked a winner.

BTW... Please don't do some stupid forced translation to the big screen. This is show is perfect in the serial format it is in.

Great Show.

It's getting Better and Better, Scene by Scene. A joy to wait for to watch. It has a story of Gavin's life (Leary), the reality of the life of a Fireman dealing with his inner demons, a divorce...etc (Watch it yourself and see) Dennis is getting better and better. I enjoy watching him. Aside the drama, through these realities of each member of the cast there is also comic relief, which I praise the writers on. You need it here and there, and it is there.

In this-episode I found Lenny Clarke (Uncle Teddy) keeping me in stitches when he yells out: "Goddammit Jerry, where the hell are my handcuffs? Jesus, what are you, taking a nap? I could'a killed another five people in here already. Come on, let's go." Then this bald headed prison Guard (whoever he was) comes in (yea, yea, yea like) to cuff Clarke. Funny.

The story line with the teacher is ridiculous.

Warning: Spoilers
The story line about the teacher having an affair with Tommy's godson and holding it over Tommy's head is ridiculous. If anything, he could hold it over HER head. SHE is the one who did something illegal. Does anyone buy this? I like this show, but this doesn't make any sense. If he wants to have sex with her, it doesn't have to be under duress. Hey, I would do her too, but I wouldn't knuckle under.

I also don't get the whole following her orders thing. His character has always been chauvinistic and, if anything, the controlling one. Why would he suddenly let her dominate him? I was disappointed in the writing and story development.
