Hoteliers Vic and Judith appear to loathe one another, she's withdrawn, he's violent and abusive. She begins to suspect that he's the man responsible for a spate of rapes and murders.
Once again, I've watched this series out of sequence, had I started with this one, I may have had a different feel to the series, what a great start, this is a seriously good, unnerving first episode.
Did he or didn't he, that's what you are made to question, Vic is definitely a monster, but is he a killer as well?
It's a powerful and pretty nasty first episode, it features one of the most convincing domestic abuse cases that I have ever seen, as well as one incredibly nasty revenge scene.
This episode has prompted me to watch further episodes.
Terrific performances from Prunella Scales and Brian Cox, the pair are superb. I did rate Norton and Lang also.
