It's awful.

The Doctor and Ramo are sentences to death by Zaroff, a plan is hatched to capture Zaroff.

Oh my goodness, this really is poor, the main problem here, it's just silly, poor jokes, over the top acting, and of course the fish people on strings, they genuinely give the Zarbi a run for their money. The scenes with them in are way too long.

It feels as if everyone is having fun, bar the viewer, the scene where Zaroff is giving chase to The Doctor, it's a full on comedy caper. It's like seeing Roy Orbison in the middle of a Benny Hill sketch, it's poor.

Even Troughton seems to be having a laugh, Joseph Fürst though, he's just outrageous. They made Polly a gutless, screaming fool here, she was so much better than this.

One scene I do love though.... Nothing in the world can stop me now, that's fun.

It really is a shambles. 3/10.

A Fishy Tale - Disappointing and often silly this is one of Doctor Who's least successful stories.

This 4 part story has to go down as a major failure in the series history. It takes place on Atlantis and sadly it is silly and badly produced in most respects compared to the series usual great standards. Being quite ridiculous at times it is at best camp fun but it mostly fails to maintain that fun as it is also pretty boring much of the time. The attempts at humour often fall flat and its implausible story (from writer Geoffrey Orme) is not a good idea.

A disappointing adventure in almost every respect with only the regular cast's performances and a few small elements raising it above an Atlantis like descent into total awfulness. One of the worst Doctor Who stories but with just enough fun and decent aspects to keep it above the level of a lot of the dross you see on TV.

One word in its defence, many people accuse the villain Zaroff of having an awful accent but that was the actor Joseph Furst's own natural accent!

All 4 Episodes - 4/10

So close to greatness

Warning: Spoilers
A lot of people don't like this episode or this story in general. I however, have been really enjoying it. This episode is very fun, well written, etc. It's ruined by two things. The first, minor thing, is the roughly one minute sequence of the fish talking to each other. The music is bad, the effects are mostly silly, it's a waste of time. The second, biggest thing, is how moronic Polly is. She seems to be unable to fight for herself or for anyone else. Despite the fact that we've seen her do just that in other episodes. When Ramo is fighting Zaroff, Polly's just off to the side like a child. The only reason she escapes Zaroff later on is because Jamie saved her. This is a very good episode with an issue that stabs at me.
