Sabina Shamdasani developed the story of 'Dada Ji' after meeting Kumar Pallana, one week after she saw 'The Terminal.'
The original script to Dada Ji had the opposite ending as to what actually went up on screen, but after some consideration for the title character, a new ending was written.
The photograph of Dada Ji's wife used in the film is actually the director's real life grandmother who had passed away several years earlier.
The character of the shady Pundit in the temple was based on a real experience the director had when scouting for a location to shoot the temple scene.
The word "Dada Ji" in Hindi, refers to the father's father, and the word "Nana Ji" refers to mother's father. Creative license was taken to adapt the title of the movie to be more synonymous with audiences.
