"The Red Coat" was written by Academy Award Winner John Patrick Shanley as a portion of his Theatre Piece, "Welcome to the Moon". In "The Red Coat", two teenagers discover that love can happen in a moment, and afterwards nothing looks the same. John (Geoffrey Appelbaum) is waiting outside a party hoping that Mary (Christine Ghawi) will arrive, so he can declare his feelings for her. When she does arrive his babbling intrigues her and when he does declare she's a bit overwhelmed. "The Red Coat" is a story about having a dream SO BIG that it makes you brave. It makes you willing to reveal yourself, to risk being ridiculous, in order to make your dream come true.
