John Legend, Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj are all set to perform at the 2016 American Music Awards.
Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced Thursday that Grande and Minaj are singing their hit tune “Side to Side.”
This marks the ladies second performance together on the Ama stage. In 2014, Grande and Minaj joined Jessie J for their song “Bang, Bang.” Meanwhile, this will be Legend’s first-ever Ama performance.
The artists join previously announced performers Bruno Mars, who will open the show, along with James Bay, Fifth Harmony, Green Day, Twenty One Pilots, and a duet from The Chainsmokers and Halsey.

The American Music Awards -- one of the biggest fan-voted music awards shows -- has revealed its 2014 ballot. Iggy Azalea, John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams lead the nominations, with the Aussie rapper picking six nods and the latter three sweeping up five. The Artist of the Year category -- predictably -- is the most cut-throat as it expands from five to 10 competing artists that include best-sellers like Azalea, Beyonce, Eminem and One Direction. Dick Clark Productions, who will stage the three-hour show on Nov. 23 show on ABC, announced the first of the performers, too: Charli Xcx is slated to play the show for the very first time. The nominees are determined by a number of factors, culled from data via Billboard, Nielsen SoundScan and Next Big Sound, like number of sales, radio plays, streams and socials. Votes are tallied from the AMAs site and through Twitter; read more...

Adam Lambert has been on a lot of shows with "America" in the title, including American Idol and The American Music Awards. He won't be appearing on another show with that word in it though.
ABC has confirmed that Lambert's appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday has been canceled. And yes, we can all assume that it's because of Lambert's ridiculous performance on the AMAs over the weekend, where he made out with a guy, dragged another guy along on a leash, and also simulated oral sex with a dancer who was down on this knees. You know, because Lambert wanted to be so Edgy. (Update: Lambert will appear on CBS' The Early Show instead, and Dick Clark Productions has released a statement about the performance.)

The American Music Awards have always been the blandest of big-big award shows, but they manage to hash out a few embeddable memories. I mean, look, Rick James is chicken-dancing in place. Green Day took things down a peg during their performance of "21 Guns" on Sunday (November 22) night's American Music Awards ... which, for them, meant only using a little pyro.
Yes, this was Green Day as understated as they can be: Billie Joe Armstrong strumming the opening chords of the song on a black acoustic, the entire band (which now includes Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, drummer Tre Cool and three backing musicians), clad in black. It's a fairly somber song, after all.
But, again, this is Green Day, a band who seems to delight in positively pummeling their audiences with pyrotechnics, so we still got a shower of sparks during the chorus, a massive video screen showing glass shattering and bullets whizzing,...

He then launched headlong into a hulking version of "Crack a Bottle," delivering lines like body blows, bobbing and weaving across the stage, his face covered by a hood. Em spit with fire and hunger, and the crowd nodded their heads with the beat and went nuts when Em welcomed a very special guest to the stage: none other than another heavyweight brawler, 50 Cent.

The American Music Awards have long been about this country's greatest virtues: popularity and blazer-heavy dance battles. The Dick Clark-produced extravaganza began in the 1970s, and the program's top-honored music group of all time is not Pink Floyd, U2 or Radiohead, but the Backstreet Boys. And that's fine! Alison Krauss can win her goddamn statue some other day. But after this morning's nomination announcement for the 2009 ceremony, the popularity contest turned a strange corner as Michael Jackson was nominated for five awards, including two for his 2003 greatest hits album Number Ones. Movieline uncovers the explanation, as well as the chilliest award speech in Ama history, after the jump.
