- Cliff Barnes: I'm glad you're here.
- [smiles]
- Cliff Barnes: I know you were really angry with me.
- Afton Cooper: [chuckles, puts her hands up around his neck] Cliff, I can't stay angry with you. I love you.
- Cliff Barnes: I love you.
- Afton Cooper: [little sigh] I hope so.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Mark, you come here dressed like a delivery man... and you bring roses, champagne, glasses. I'd like to know why.
- Mark Graison: Did I get your attention?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Yes, you did.
- [nods]
- Mark Graison: That's why.
- [picks up glass, takes sip]
- Mark Graison: I really wanted... to let you know how sorry I was about the outcome of the hearing. I mean, I... was the one that released Brooks Oliver to you and Miss Ellie.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Brooks Oliver is a wonderful attorney. The judge just ruled against Miss Ellie, that's all. There's no need for an apology, *if* that's really what this is about.
- Mark Graison: It is.
- [with no real interest:]
- Mark Graison: This is quite a place you've got here. I mean, look... at this!
- [mounts exercise bike]
- Mark Graison: I'll try it.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Shouldn't you have apologized to Miss Ellie?
- Mark Graison: Well, does she like good champagne?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I think she does.
- Mark Graison: How does she feel about delivery men?
- [Pamela bursts out laughing delightfully]
- Mark Graison: Oh, I like your laugh. You haven't been doing much of it lately, have you?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: No, I haven't.
- Mark Graison: And with the hearing over... Bobby and J.R. will going at it head to head again, I suppose.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I don't think that concerns you.
- Mark Graison: Well, if it makes you unhappy... it concerns me.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Mark, what you did was really sweet, thoughtful and lovely...
- Mark Graison: Thank you.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: ...but I don't want you to do it again.
- [shakes her head]
- Mark Graison: I never repeat myself.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: You know what I mean.
- Mark Graison: I know that you are getting serious again... and that means it's time for me to leave...
- [walks past her]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Mark...
- Mark Graison: Oh, listen, and, and don't bother washing the glasses. Uh, just throw 'em out. I got plenty for next time. I'll see you again.
- [leaves, with her staring after him]
- Bobby Ewing: [plotting to blackmail Hicks] Okay, Daggett, we'll use Wendy.
- Carl Daggett: Okay, just like the old days! Set 'em up and call in the markers, huh?
- Bobby Ewing: No, Carl, not like the old days. This is a one-time only thing. I don't want to ruin this man; I just want to get a little leverage on him, that's all.
- Carl Daggett: Okay, Bobby, I understand. But a little scandal, like a little blackmail, is kind of like being just a little pregnant, y'know? You're in for the whole score, my friend.
- J.R. Ewing: [acknowledging after-hours visitor to Ewing Oil headquarters] Holly...
- Holly Harwood: Why the late hour meeting, J.R.? I don't understand why you couldn't tell me what you wanted...
- J.R. Ewing: There are a number of things you don't understand, darling. I asked you to meet me here. Come on into my office.
- [she hesitates]
- J.R. Ewing: Come on, honey.
- [she follows reluctantly]
- J.R. Ewing: Come on.
- [she enters, and he closes the door behind her]
- J.R. Ewing: Drink?
- Holly Harwood: No. Get on with it, J.R.
- J.R. Ewing: [scoffs, pours himself a glass] It seems like I'm running into teetotallers all over the place. I had a meeting with a gentleman this afternoon who wouldn't have a drink.
- [shallows down a gulp]
- Holly Harwood: J.R., I think we better talk some other time.
- J.R. Ewing: You told the Air Force that I was behind your attempt to cancel their contract.
- [she stares at him uncertainly]
- J.R. Ewing: Holly, we had an agreement. No one was to know I had any connection with Harwood Oil.
- Holly Harwood: [optimistic try] Any time you want out of your contract...
- J.R. Ewing: I don't want out of the contract. And I don't want any more stupid mistakes, you understand that?
- Holly Harwood: What I understand is that I made the biggest mistake in my life when I made a deal with you.
- J.R. Ewing: Not if you listen and do exactly like I tell you.
- Holly Harwood: For how long?
- J.R. Ewing: As long as I need you.
- Holly Harwood: Then what? You break Harwood. Ewing picks up the pieces?
- J.R. Ewing: I don't need to break Harwood. I already run it. And from now on, I run you too, darling.
- Holly Harwood: Never!
- [turns her back on him]
- J.R. Ewing: Holly...
- [his hands on her neck and shoulder, rubbing]
- J.R. Ewing: You don't have any choice, honey.
- Holly Harwood: Take your hands off me, J.R.
- J.R. Ewing: You wanted me once.
- [reaches for buttons of her jacket]
- Holly Harwood: You turned me down.
- J.R. Ewing: Now we can start from scratch.
- Holly Harwood: [insists] No, J.R. I don't want this.
- J.R. Ewing: I give the orders.
- [pulls the jacket down over her shoulders]
- J.R. Ewing: You just follow orders. That's the way it's gonna be.
- Holly Harwood: You won't enjoy it.
- J.R. Ewing: You'd better make damn sure I do.
