Over breakfast, Vicki and Carolyn discuss Roger's car wreck and the suspicions centered on Burke Devlin. Both women are doubtful that Burke is guilty. At the inn, Bill Malloy also accuses Burke. Malloy has found out about the detective Burke hired to investigate the Collins family. Vicki receives a letter from the foundling home, and learns that she was also investigated by this private eye.
