NCIS introduced Maria Bello as Special Agent Jacqueline "Jack" Sloane, a forensic psychologist from California who has come to DC as a favor to Director Vance, in "Skeleton Crew," in such a way that didn't exactly get her off to the right start with Gibbs (though it was slightly entertaining to watch) and hinted at a past with Vance.
But was it the right way to go about it? Not necessarily, which is why we need to see more of Jack Sloane -- in order to give her a second chance to offset that rocky first impression.

Unfortunately, "NCIS" fans. As most of you are currently aware of, Abby Sciuto actress Pauley Perrette (above) has recently made the decision to leave the show that she has been on for the past 15 or so years. She announced it via letter on Twitter. Now, according to a new Buddytv.com article, CBS has released a statement responding to Pauley's departure announcement. Also, the producers of "NCIS" George Schenck and Frank Cardea released a statement. In CBS' statement, they thanked Pauley for all the work she did to make the Abby character one of the most unique characters on television. They respect her decision and so on and so forth. They stated, "Perrette is a valued member of both NCIS and the CBS family for over 15 years. While it's never easy saying goodbye to a beloved actress and character, we respect her decision to leave at the end of the season.

In it, is a little teaser description of what's in store. We've learned that we're going to see a new female agent arrive on the scene. This had already been reported a few weeks back. But now, it's finally time to see her in action! The upcoming episode 4 is entitled, "Skeleton Crew," and it's going to feature the arrival of NCIS Special Agent Jacqueline "Jack" Sloane (above right). She's played by actress Maria Bello. They also described Jacqueline as being a forensic Psychologist that Vance lobbied to get transferred from California to the headquarters. Want to make a short film based on one of Stephen King's stories? Chances are that it'll only cost you a dollar...
Stephen King is, you might say, a bit prolific. With over 50 novels, 6 nonfiction books, and 200 short stories to his name (or Richard Bachman's), King has one of the hardest-working pens/typewriters/laptops in the writing world. And best of all, when it comes to King's work, quantity does equal quality.
That's probably why Hollywood is constantly optioning his countless works for big blockbuster film adaptations. Guys like Frank Darabont, Brian De Palma, Stanley Kubrick, George A. Romero, John Carpenter, Lawrence Kasdan, and Rob Reiner have all taken stabs (no pun intended) at his work. Many of them are even great films that hold their own, which is very rare in the novel-to-film adaptation business, especially when the source material is as high-profile as King's.

As a lifelong fan of the original Creepshow—one of the first R-rated horror movies I ever saw as a kid and still my favorite horror anthology of all-time—it has taken me years to come to terms with the fact that Creepshow 2 is not bad. In fact, it’s quite good at times. But because it failed to capture the lightning-in-a-bottle magic of the first film (I mean, you had George A. Romero, Stephen King, and Tom Savini all working at their peaks), I have always ignored the fact that there’s a lot to like in Creepshow 2, even if it does fall short of its predecessor’s greatness. Thankfully, Arrow’s new special edition Blu-ray helped put me in my place.
Based on three more stories by King, Creepshow 2 finds original director Romero trading in the director’s chair for screenwriting duties. Calling the shots...

Fancy some terrific Stephen King horror short stories to read? Here are some recommendations...
Stephen King is a master of the short story, able to dish out horror tales to make your skin crawl, astounding sci-fi, and even literary reflections aimed at more "sophisticated" readers. He's done it all, with no sign of stopping.
Although I've had the tough task of picking 15 of my favorite King horror tales for this list, you should absolutely pick up All of his collections and give them a read through. You'll always find something to give you the chills.
Make a note: this is a list of short stories, not novellas. And on top of that, stories that are genuinely scary. I didn't forget "The Mist" or "N." or "Secret Window, Secret Garden" or any of those other goodies. Those deserve their own article, don't they?

When it comes to brilliant Stephen King characters, the choices truly are endless. From The Shining’s Jack Torrance to The Green Mile’s Paul Edgecombe to The Stand”s Stuart Redman, King is responsible for writing some of the most memorable main characters in fiction.
But just because a character isn’t “main” doesn’t mean they can’t be memorable. King’s talent extends so far that even his side and minor characters are fleshed out and intriguing. Indeed, it’s practically impossible to open a King novel without being confronted by a brilliant cast of unique people. In fact, some of these characters have so much depth and complexity that they practically demand their own novels. Their stories are distinct enough that they merit their own telling.

"Yes. Horror, lunacy, and death. How's that for a slight problem, kids?" The Twilight Zone Magazine was a fitting publication for Stephen King's 1981 short story, "The Jaunt", to make its debut. Like many episodes of Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone, "The Jaunt" (featuring one of the most disturbing endings ever crafted by King) deals with space travel and the great capabilities and devastating failures of advanced technology. Many readers were first introduced to the Mars-destined Oates family by reading "The Jaunt" in King's 1985 short story collection, Skeleton Crew, and it looks like within the next few years we could finally see the teleportation tale told on the big screen, as Brad Pitt's Plan B production company has optioned the feature film rights to "The Jaunt" and set Andrés and Bárbara Muschietti (2013's Mama) to adapt the haunting short story.

Plan B has optioned the feature film rights to Stephen King's teleportation-themed 1981 short story "The Jaunt".
The original short was a part of his 1985 anthology collection "Skeleton Crew," which included previously adapted to the screen stories like "The Mist," "The Raft," "Word Processor of the Gods" and "Gramma".
The story is set in the 24th century when the technology for teleportation is commonplace and allows for instantaneous transportation across enormous distances - even to other planets in the solar system.
The catch? It has to be done whilst unconscious. Those that have tried the trip whilst conscious either die or go immediately insane. The story deals with a father telling his family about the history of jaunting as they prepare for a trip to Mars.

Brad Pitt’s Plan B is building a reputation for shepherding bold, creative projects into life. Selma, 12 Years A Slave, Killing Me Softly and Moneyball have all been lovingly nursed through production with varying degrees of success, and it looks likely that Stephen King’s The Jaunt will join World War Z in representing the more fantastical end of the production house’s slate. Mama duo Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti are now attached to the project.A short story originally published by King in Twilight Zone Magazine, The Jaunt found a home and a fanbase in 1985 short story anthology, Skeleton Crew (also the home of The Mist). The premise, set in the 24th century, sees a dad explaining the basis of ‘jaunting’, a teleportation device with which he’ll transport his family to Mars. So far, so About Time meets Total Recall. Of course, things can – and do – go horribly wrong in the process.

Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B has optioned feature rights to The Jaunt, a 1981 Stephen King short story about a futuristic method of teleportation. Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the duo behind 2013 frightener Mama (he directed, she produced and both collaborated on the screenplay), have been tapped to develop, with Andy directing.
King’s story was first published in Twilight Zone Magazine but only garnered acclaim when it was included in the author’s 1985 short-story collection, Skeleton Crew. Set in the 24th century, the story revolves around ‘jaunting,’ a method of teleportation in which the individual is put under anesthesia during their travels, lest the process cause their mind to implode from experiencing time standing still. One father, preparing his family for a trip to Mars, recounts the controversial and chilling history of jaunting.

Tomorrow is of course Friday the 13th, which means it's once again time for all of us horror fans to revisit our favorite installments in the slasher franchise. Personally, I tend to stick with the original film through The Final Chapter, as those are the movies that personify the franchise for me.
Evidently the folks over on the Skeleton Crew Horror Podcast feel the same way because they've just uploaded a video to their YouTube channel that recaps those first four Friday the 13th films in the form of a pretty hilarious rap song.
Yeah, I know. Horror and rap don't exactly go together like peanut butter and jelly, but we ask you to put those bad memories of Busta Rhymes in Halloween: Resurrection on hold and give this one a chance. We think you'll dig it.

In 2002, publisher Cemetery Dance released its first full limited-edition novel by Stephen King: From a Buick 8. It was a visual and tactile treat of a book, issued in three states, or versions: a “gift” edition, a limited numbered edition, and a 52-copy lettered edition, each one more sumptuous than the last. Bernie Wrightson’s illustrations managed to deftly capture the otherworldly strangeness of the creatures that emerge from the titular Buick, despite the fact that they are said to be indescribable. While it wasn’t the first book with Stephen King's work published by Cemetery Dance (that honor goes to 1998’s The Best of Cemetery Dance, which includes the reprint King story “Chattery Teeth”), it set a precedent. Later King publications – Blockade Billy; Full Dark, No Stars; It: The 25th Anniversary Edition; and especially the two Secretary of Dreams compilations – matched or surpassed what From a Buick 8 started,...

L.A.-based filmmaker Noam Kroll is currently working on his second feature. He keeps a production blog at his website NoamKroll.com. He wrote this entry after people asked him what the most important roles were to have if you only had money for a few crew members. Check out Kroll's blog here, and his production company post-production house Creative Rebellion here. Up and coming filmmakers often ask me how to effectively shoot a film with a Skeleton Crew. For those of you that don’t know the term, a Skeleton Crew is a film crew that is stripped down to the bare essential crew members, usually in order to save money in production, or to be less conspicuous when shooting without permits. While I have directed and produced many shoots that were done with exceptionally small crews, there is no cut and dry formula for putting together a crew of this scale.
